Test Generation for Networks of Interacting FSMs Using Symbolic Techniques

چکیده
This paper presents a new testing atmtegy for networks ofinteracting FSMa. The approach allows w to genemte test patterns for faults in the network by separately handling the network’s components. The proposed algorithms are j%ly symbolic; therefore, they allow the manipulation of large designs. Experimental results, though preliminary, are promising.

Applying Conventional Testing Techniques for Class Testing - Computer Software and Applications Conference, 1996. COMPSAC '96., Proceedings of 20th Internation
This paper discusses how conventional testing criteria such as branch coverage can be applied fo r the testing of member functions inside a class. To support such testing techniques we employ symbolic execution techniques and finite state machines(FSMs). Symbolic execution is performed on the code of a member functzon to identify states that are required t o fulfill a given criterion. We use FS...
متن کاملSymbolic Verification and Test Generation for a Network of Communicating FSMs
A network of communicating FSMs (NCFSMs) is a useful formalism to model complex concurrent systems, but its use demands efficient analysis algorithms. We propose a new symbolic framework for NCFMS verification and test generation. We explore the use of the breadth-first search (BFS) and saturation algorithms to compute the “unstable transitive closure” of transitions for the observable product ...
متن کاملA complete testing strategy based on interacting and hierarchical FSMs
Control-dominated devices are usually modeled as a composition of nite state machines. FSMs can be hierarchically composed to dominate the modeling complexity or can be aggregated into an interacting architecture to partition a complex behavior. A hierarchical or interacting FSMs based representation can be extracted from a device's description given by means of a hardware description language....
متن کاملAutomatic Functional Vector Generation Using the Interacting FSM Model
ion While the coverage-driven design validation is getting popular, it would be more convenient for users to have an automatic generator that can generate the input patterns to satisfy the coverage requirements. The symbolic techniques can be used to generate the desired input patterns easily for a specific state transition in a FSM. However, it is not practical for real designs because the mem...

In this paper we give an introduction to methods and tools for testing communication protocols and distributed systems. In this context, we try to answer the following questions: Why are we testing? What are we testing? Against what are we Ž testing?... We present the different approaches of test automation and explain the industrial point of view automatic test . Ž . execution and the research...
